In memory of Rory Marshall

Story

Following the recent loss of our best friend, role model, and hero Rory Marshall (aged 32) after battling Cystic Fibrosis for his entire life. William Hunter and I have decided to set myself various challenges that will put us through our paces in honor of Rory's life and the many challenges and battles he faced on a daily basis. The first being a half marathon and second the Tough Mudder in May all in aid of The Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Often we can take for granted being able-bodied and knowing how badly Rory wanted to be able to run/exercise and cycle, we must carry forward the legacy of Rory in competing in various challenges and push our bodies physically and mentally to experience even the smallest amount of pain and the challenges Rory went through on a daily basis.

Throughout the 22 years I have known Rory, he never once complained, or was ever negative and never felt sorry for the card in life he was dealt. Whilst he was often physically weak, he is by far the most mentally strong individual we will ever know and is the true definition of a warrior and hero. He always cared for everyone else and always put others first before himself despite the challenges he was going through himself. He was a role model and inspiration for many people and his care and loving reach went far and wide.

Our chosen charity, for this reason, is the Cystic Fibrosis Trust for providing Rory the utmost care and attention throughout his life and their ability to constantly be demonstrating proactivity in finding a cure, trialing new drugs and new technology. They are an exceptional charity that requires all the help and support they can get for this extremely sufferable and difficult disease.

Thank you for your support, it means the world to us : )

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-limiting genetic condition affecting more than 10,000 people across the UK. It affects the lungs and digestive system and can cause chronic infections and reduced lung function. Currently, half of those with CF will not live past age 41. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is fighting for a brighter future for people with CF and their families by funding cutting-edge research, driving up standards of care and supporting people with the condition and their loved ones every step of the way.
